This offshoot of the Social Justice Team is working to determine if Smoky Hill UMC would like to become a Reconciling Ministries Congregation.
The Reconciling Ministry Action Team at Smoky Hill is an offshoot of the Social Justice Team. This team has been initiating discussions, classes and exercises within the church to see if Smoky Hill UMC would like to become a Reconciling Ministries Congregation. During this process, we will be working with the Reconciling Ministries Network.
The Reconciling Ministry Action Team has developed a “frame” identity to help us in our efforts. The frame is intended to draw on the strength, identity and experience of Smoky Hill UMC’s history. "Unceasingly Weaving a Diverse Tapestry” recognizes that Smoky Hill UMC has become a diverse congregation over the years We are more diverse (by race, by class, by theology, by sexual orientation, by national origin, etc.) than many suburban congregations but we are still less diverse than many others.
Reconciling Ministries Network is mobilizing United Methodists to create full inclusion of all God’s children regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity since 1982. Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) is a growing movement of United Methodist individuals, congregations, campus ministries, and other groups working for the full participation of all people in The United Methodist Church.
All interested parties are welcome to join the Action Team or any of the events hosted by the group.
