The Music Ministry program at SHUMC wishes to extend an open invitation to anyone who desires to share their musical gifts and talents in service. Each ensemble is committed to sharing the Gospel of Christ through music with practice, fun and fellowship. Our groups rehearse and participate in worship regularly from late August through May. We look forward to sharing this spiritual gift of music in worship, in the community and at special events.

 

Chancel Choir - Participates in Sunday worship services in addition to special services throughout the year. Whether you have sung in choirs for years or have little to no experience, there is a place for you in the choir. A variety of music ranging from traditional to contemporary sacred is sung.

 

Handbell Choirs - Ring a joyful noise! No experience necessary, we would love to teach you! All ages, adults, youth and children, who are interested in handbells, can learn to ring.  Currently, Crystal Bells, an adult handbell choir, plays for worship services approximately once a month.

 

Praise Band - Provides a contemporary style of songs to worship services, approximately once per month. Occasionally the Praise Team joins the Chancel Choir and Orchestra for special services.

 

Orchestra - We are called to praise the Lord with instruments! Our orchestra members range from teens to adults and include brass, woodwinds, and strings. We ask that you have minimal experience and if a student, at least one or two years of experience. Come join us!
