My wife Joyce and I have been married 31 years! We are a clergy couple (yes, we met in Seminary) and she will be serving as Senior Pastor at Phillips UMC in Lakewood. The parsonage at Phillips Church will be our home. We have one daughter, Mary Lynne, who lives in Los Angeles - Hollywood, in fact - and who is working toward a career in making movies. This has been her goal since she was in grade school. We also have a small dog named Boo, who is a poodle-lhasa apso mix
2017 marks my 30th year of ministry in the United Methodist Church. The first 13 of those years I served churches in the West Michigan Annual Conference, and the last 17 here in the Rocky Mountain Conference. I have served churches with as few as 25 members, and as many as 1,500 members.
When I am not in my pastoral role, I enjoy reading, seeing movies, hiking and camping. It was in part the call of the mountains and the beauty of this part of the world that led us to move out west from our roots in Illinois (me) and Michigan (Joyce). We both like going to Rockies baseball games and cheering on the Broncos.
Smoky Hill's Vision/Mission Statement resonates my own sense of call and my understanding of who God calls the church to be...a place for everyone. I so look forward to seeing how this time of journeying together as God's people will unfold.
